Electronics Manufacturing Plant, Juarez, Mexico
Scientific Atlanta, Inc. (Cisco Systems)
Brookwood led a comprehensive strategic facilities planning effort for Scientific Atlanta, a rapidly growing electronics and communications company, supporting the development of a high-volume electronics manufacturing facility in Juárez, Mexico. Delivered using the Bridging project delivery method, the project comprises a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing plant designed to support accelerated production ramp-up and long-term operational requirements.
In addition to strategic planning, Brookwood provided complete site location, design coordination, and project management services. The project was notable for its highly compressed schedule: the initial 50,000 square feet of manufacturing space was programmed, sited, designed, and placed into operation within seven months of the start of programming and site search activities. The remaining 50,000 square feet was completed and brought fully online just three months later.
Juárez, the sister city of El Paso, Texas, is located within the Maquila Maquiladora Zona Libre of northern Mexico, a region supporting advanced manufacturing operations. Scientific Atlanta operated as a “black box” manufacturer of cable television devices at the facility and has since become a division of Cisco Systems. The project reflects Brookwood’s experience applying the Bridging Method to time-critical industrial facilities in complex, cross-border environments.
